I am thrilled to have my film, Nice Shoes Faggot, included in the Digital Arts Resource Centre 45th Anniversary Exhibition Digital Archive: Experimental Selections from the SAW Video Mediatheque.

Nice Shoes Faggot was produced in 1996 with the support of the Ontario Arts Council and SAW Video.

On the night of August 21, 1989, Alain Broseau, a waiter from the Chateau Laurier, had finished his shift and walked through Major’s Hill Park on his way home to Hull on the other side of the Ottawa River. In the park he was chased, beaten, robbed and then dropped head-first off the Alexandra Bridge by a group of teenagers.

As his murderers held by his ankles over the side of the bridge, the last thing they said to him was “I like your shoes” and then they let him go.

That same night the same group of teenagers went to a house in suburban Ottawa and attacked two men, as they slept, with knives and screwdrivers.

Nice Shoes Faggot is an interpretative document of that night.

Happy to announce that Radical Stillness: Performances of Rest and Sleep as Public Resistance has just been published in the lateste issue of The Radical History Review.

The amazing Lauren Michelle Levesque, associate professor in the School of Leadership Ecology and Equity at Saint Paul University, invited Josh Clendenin and I to participate in a series of conversations on the topic of Rest as Resistance.

And though I may be credited as one of the authors of the article, all I did was particpate in some of the most interesting convesations I have ever had with two of the most incredible people I have ever met, Lauren did ALL the heavy lifting to get the article to print.

I had an amazing day with this talented group of weavers leading Tweed Inspirations, a tweed design workshop at the Ottawa Vallery Weavers' and Spinners' Guild a couple of weeks ago.

I am proud and grateful to have my work, Swoon 04 included in the exhibition Resistant Fibres at the Âjagemô Exhibition Space at the Canada Council for the Arts.

Resistant Fibres, curated by Julie Graff, opens on June 17, 2025 and continues to May 10, 2026.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing situation between Canada and the United States, the exhibition has been postponed until further notice. However, the virtual artist talk planned for April 24 at 6:00pm will go ahead as scheduled. Visit the Handweaving Museum website to register.
